Bullets Move Closer To Title With Win Over KB

By McLloyd Kudzingo

TNM Super League defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets closed in on Super League title with victory over Kamuzu Barracks away at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe as second placed Silver Strikers lost 2-0 to Moyale Barracks at Mzuzu Stadium on Saturday.

Bullets controlled possession in the first half and their dominance was rewarded in the 21st minute when man of the match Mischeck Selemani scored the first goal for the People’s team after receiving a pass from captain Chimwemwe Idana.

Bullets got their second goal in the second half through substitute Hassan Kajoke in the 51st minute before Idana sealed the victory in the 86th minute.

KB tried their best to get a consolation through Zeliat Nkhoma, Francisco Kamdzeka and Kelvin Hanganda but their efforts were in vain as it still ended 3- nill in favour of the People’s team.

Speaking in a post-match interview Bullets coach Kalisto Pasuwa said he was delighted with the victory and that he was optimistic that his team will defend the title.

“It is a big step to winning the league and I am very happy for this victory. It wasn’t an easy fixture for us but I told the boys to be composed inorder to make sure that we walk away with the three points and here we are,” said Pasuwa.

In Mzuzu, Raphael Phiri scored a brace to give Moyale Barracks a convincing win against Lilongwe giants Silver Strikers in a match that took place at Mzuzu Stadium.

With the loss Silver are stuck at number 2 on the log table with 55 points, 4 behind leaders Nyasa Big Bullets who have now accumulated 59 points.

The Central Bankers might drop to third position if the third placed Mighty Wanderers win their game against Blue Eagles tomorrow.

A win for Wanderers will also put pressure on Bullets as the Nomads will be just 2 points shy behind the league leaders.

If the Nomads fail to beat Eagles tomorrow then Bullets will be crowned champions for this season with a game to go.

Both teams have a single game to wind up the 2020/21 season. Bullets will finish the season with a game against Karonga United while Silver will host Ekwendeni Medicals.

Wanderers will host Moyale Barracks in their final match at Kamuzu Stadium.
