Blue Eagles FC were left heartbroken as Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve’s Lyton Chinong’one scored in the last minute to boot the area 30 side out of the FDH Cup.
Eagles were the first to score in the 35th minute through Chifuniro Mpinganjira but their lead was cancelled 12 minutes later by the Young Bullets’ Wongani Kaponya.
But just when everybody thought the match was going into penalties, Chinong’one broke the hearts of Blue Eagles’ followers in the 94th minute after Eagles defence was caught napping in the line of duty.
Young Bullets’ win means that one of the regional teams will make it to the final of the competition as another premier division side Extreme FC booked themselves a place in the semi-finals following their 2-0 win against Changalume Barracks at Balaka Stadium.
Beaston Jimu and Maxwell Matewere were on target for Extreme FC.
On Saturday Nyasa Big Bullets beat Chitipa United 2-0 to book themselves a place in the semi-finals and they will meet sworn rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers who thumped Kamuzu Barracks 4-1 at Kamuzu Stadium.
