President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has commended the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) for its significant contributions to the social and economic transformation of Malawi.
In his address at the CCAP General Assembly Centenary celebrations held at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday, Chakwera acknowledged the church’s immense contributions in the areas of spiritual revival, education, health, and economic development over the past 100 years.
The president also highlighted the church’s profound influence on the country’s independence and democratic journey, recognizing its crucial role in promoting good governance and providing checks and balances.
Additionally, he emphasized the church’s partnership with the government in development, particularly in community development, evangelism, social justice, and human capital development.
The moderator of the CCAP General Assembly, Right Reverend Biswick Nkhoma, echoed the president’s sentiments, describing the CCAP as a vital partner in development.
Nkhoma outlined the church’s extensive contributions to community development, including evangelism, social justice, and human capital development.
The CCAP General Assembly was established in 1924, marking the historic union of the Presbyterian missions of Livingstonia, Nkhoma, and Blantyre. Since then, the church has grown to include the Synod of Zambia and the Synod of Harare, Zimbabwe.
