Chakwera names new cabinet

In exercising his powers under Section 94(1) of the Malawi Constitution, President Dr.Lazarus Chakwera on Wednesday evening announced a new cabinet to guide the country into the 2025.

According to Chakwera, the appointments, effective immediately, aim to align the government’s leadership with its priorities for the year, particularly with the upcoming general elections in September.

1. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera – President and Commander-in-Chief of the Malawi Defence Force 
2. Michael Bizwick Usi – Vice President and Minister of State for Public Service Delivery 
3. Simplex Chithyola – Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs 
4. Sosten Alfred Gwengwe – Minister of Trade and Industry 
5. Samuel Kawale – Minister of Agriculture 
6. Ezekiel Peter Ching’oma – Minister of Homeland Security
