Chakwera returns home excited from  European tour of duty

President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera on Saturday returned home from his Mozambique and European tour of duty.

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera arrived at the Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) today following the completion of his official visits to Italy and Germany, where he executed official duties.
Vice President Dr Michael Usi accompanied by Senior Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers,  Senior party leaders from UTM and MCP welcomed Chakwera at KIA.

During his stay in Italy, Vatican, President Chakwera engaged in a fruitful meeting with Head of The Catholic Church, Pope Francis, addressing various developmental matters of mutual interest between their respective nations.

The President also took advantage of the opportunity to confer with the distinguished Head of the Food Agriculture Organization (FAO), Dr. Qu Dongyu, and the President of Saint’ Edigio, Professor Marko Impagliazzo.

Speaking upon his arrival at KIA President said the trip was so successful.

He said while in Mozambique,  the President finalised Malawi – Mozambique interconnection deal whereby  Malawi is expected to import 50 Megawatts of power.

He said while in Germany the President Upon his arrival in Germany, President was warmly welcomed by the Mayor of Offenbach City in Frankfurt, Mayor Dr. Felix Schewenke.

The President said while in Germany witnessed the signing of Memorandums of Understanding between Malawi and Germany, focusing on areas such as Energy, Water Transport and Healthcare services provision.
