President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is set to play a crucial role in shaping Malawi’s energy future as he attends the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The summit, scheduled for January 28, 2025, aims to secure commitments from African leaders to achieve universal access to electricity by 2030, with a target of connecting 300 million Africans to the grid .

Malawi is poised to benefit significantly from the summit, as President Chakwera will preside over the signing of a $300 million compact approved by the World Bank Board. This funding will support Malawi’s efforts to achieve universal energy and electricity access by 2030.
