As the country approaches the 2025 elections, President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has called on the Christian community to remain steadfast in observing the Way of the Cross.
Speaking at this year’s Way of the Cross celebrations in Lilongwe on Friday,Chakwera emphasized the importance of peace and unity during this season.
The President encouraged Malawians to turn away from earthly desires and focus on spiritual growth, reminding them that God’s grace is sufficient for all.
He praised the organizers of the Way of the Cross for promoting unity and oneness.
On his part,Chairperson of the Way of the Cross organizing committee Rev. Langford Chokhotho,described the celebration as a “prayer war” for spiritual renewal and national peace.
He acknowledged the collaboration with the Evangelical Association of Malawi(EAM) and African Enterprise(AE ) in organizing the event.
The Way of the Cross is a traditional devotion in honour of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
