As part of ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of civil servants in the country, the Government under the leadership of Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has announced an introduction of a K20,000 transport allowance to civil servants.
According to a circular signed by Blessings Chilabade Secretary for Human Resource Management and Development dated April 28,2023, the allowances will be given to workers in Grade E to R effective 1st April,2023.
The circular indicates that those in grade D and above are not entitled to the transport allowance as they already get monthly fuel allocations.
Meanwhile, the government has also approved revised salaries for all civil servants effective 1st April 2023.
Currently, all civil servants are enjoying an 8 percent salary increment announced by the government a few weeks ago.
