There was chaos in Ndirande, Blantyre, as police fired tear gas to disperse protesters.
The demonstrators had planned to march to the Blantyre District Commissioner’s office to present their grievances.
They wanted to voice their concerns over the rising cost of essential goods and the ongoing issue of the damaged bridge over the Nasolo River.

To stop the protesters, police blocked the road leading from Chinsewu towards Blantyre Girls School.
Despite the roadblock, the police continued to fire tear gas as angry protesters regrouped in different areas.
The situation remained tense as demonstrators refused to back down, leading to further clashes with law enforcement.
