Alliance for Democracy(AFORD) President Enock Chihana, has criticized the current leadership for prioritizing self-interest over serving the people,warning that this trend is unsustainable.
Chihana has also spoken out against the escalating corruption in the country, calling it a “cancer” that is stifling national progress.
Speaking at the party’s elective convention underway in Lilongwe, the AFORD leader emphasized that the unity of various political parties is crucial in preparing to take over the government and usher in a new era of leadership.
He also stressed the need for Malawi to reduce its dependence on foreign donors, 50 years after gaining independence.
Chihana acknowledged the mistakes of the past and apologized to Malawians for involving them in the Tonse Alliance, which is led by the current Malawi Congress Party(MCP).
