In a groundbreaking move, Chikwawa District Council on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Illovo Sugar Malawi PLC and Governance for Solutions (GfS).
The collaborative agreement aims to drive transformative change and propel community development in the district.
The MoU outlines a comprehensive roadmap for enhancing public safety and security, developing commercial parks, and implementing effective waste disposal systems.

In an interview with journalists, District Commissioner for Chikwawa, Nardin Kamba, expressed optimism about the MoU’s potential impact.
“We are confident that this partnership will guide the transformative potential of our district and improve the lives of our citizens,” he said.
On his part, Managing Director for Illovo Sugar Malawi Lekani Katandula, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the initiative.
“Our team of engineers and managers will contribute their expertise to ensure that the Nchalo Urban Structure Plan is robust, forward-thinking, and inclusive, ultimately benefiting the community,” he said.
