Vice President Saulos Chilima has described the 41st Annual General meeting of Malawi Institute of Architect (MIA) as timely in addressing challenges faced by the architectural fraternity in the country.
Speaking during the official opening of this year’s MIA annual general meeting in Lilongwe, which was being held under the theme “The Architect: Re-imagning Malawi’s Future”, Chilima emphasized on the need for architectural practices that plays key role in the navigation of complexities faced in the industry.
He then urged the architect community to embrace collaboration for the success and betterment of Malawi in line with Malawi’s Vision 2063.
“As architects, you are the masters of building the foundation of our country’s future”, said Chilima.
He further advised the architect community to reflect on the words of President Chakwera jn 2021 at the time he accepted to be the matron of MIA.
In his remarks, President for Malawi Institute of Architects (MIA) Khumbo Chirwa, appealed for governments collaboration in various construction projects for Malawi to attain the standardized infrastructure by 2063.
He also requested government to create a platform for MIA to showcase skills for the realization of urbanisation aspirations.
Architects and other professionals in the construction industry have been converging from Monday this week to deliberate their role in shaping the future of various construction projects in Malawi in line with aspirations constituted in the Malawi 2063 long-term developmental goals.
