Deputy Minister of Local Government, Unity, and Culture Owen Chomanika has urged government officials in district councils to refrain from misusing their positions and hindering development activities.
Chomanika made this call on Thursday during a quarterly coordination meeting in Mponela, Dowa district.
He emphasized that the lack of coordination among officials leads to suffering for the people in the villages, ultimately hindering development activities.
The minister then encouraged government officials and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to work together seamlessly for effective project implementation.
On his part,Executive Director of the Malawi Government Association, Hadrod Mkandawire, acknowledged the coordination gap in ministries.
He cited instances where projects in some ministries do not align with district council plans.
Mkandawire vowed to encourage local council members to enhance coordination moving forward.
