The High Court in Blantyre on Monday granted an injunction suspending the firing of Nicolas Dausi as Democratic Progressive Party(DPP) member and its Publicity Secretary pending determination of the matter.
In court, judge Mandala Mambulasa also ordered the claimant to file an application with notice for continuation of the interlocutory order within 14 days.
DPP’s disciplinary committee had fired Dausi for his alleged misconduct in the party.
But later, the court nullified the committee after Leader of Opposition in Parliament Kondwani Nankhumwa had sought legal redress; protesting the party’s decision to summon him to a hearing for undermining DPP leader Peter Mutharika.
Despite the committee’s nullification, the party’s legal advisor, Charles Mhango said Dausi remained fired.
Meanwhile, both party’s spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba and Mhango are yet to comment on the development.
