Malawi President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has sent a stern warning to government officials to deliver or make room for others saying in his quest to building a new Malawi, he will no longer tolerate excuses.

Speaking at the official opening of the Henry Henderson School of Excellency on Thursday 3rd November, 2022 in Blantyre, Chakwera said government officials who do not deliver must get out of the way and make room for those who do, because rebuilding Malawi is a matter of urgency.

The Malawi leader emphasized that one of the things that slows down progress in the country is the habit of leaving development projects in the hands of people who give endless excuses for their failure to produce quality and timely results.

“So, as we go into the year 2023, my administration will entertain no distractions, no excuses, no political games and no meetings created for people who just want to hear themselves talk and show off their education and expertise in saying everything and accomplishing nothing. Our focus in the next 17 months whether in government or private sector must be delivery and more delivery,” he said.

Commenting on the newly built Henry Henderson School of Excellence, Chakwera said he felt compelled to open the facility because it is built on high standards and has a special place in history.

He also commended those who worked on the project for doing a good job within the shortest period of time.
