On Monday 23 September 2024, senior officials from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), including National Organizing Secretary Sameer Suleman and National Director of Women Mary Navicha, gathered at Chikangawa to pay tribute to the victims of the recent plane crash. This tragic incident claimed the lives of several individuals, including former Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima, prominent politician Shanil Muluzi, and seven others.
The ceremony served as a solemn reminder of the fragility of life and the impact of loss on the nation. Suleman and Navicha emphasized the importance of honoring those who lost their lives, acknowledging their contributions to the country and the deep void their absence leaves behind.
During the tribute, Suleman expressed condolences to the families affected by the tragedy, calling for unity and resilience in the face of such heartbreaking circumstances. He highlighted the need for the nation to come together to support one another in times of grief.
Navicha, speaking on behalf of the women’s wing of the DPP, conveyed her heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families. She emphasized that the legacy of the departed should inspire others to continue working towards a better Malawi.
