The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has made a significant impact in Lilongwe today as its Vice President for the Central Region, Alfred Gangata, led a well-attended political rally at Mgona Ground. The event, aimed at rallying support ahead of the 2025 general elections, drew thousands of enthusiastic supporters eager to hear the DPP’s vision for Malawi’s future.

Alfred Gangata, delivering a central message of “returning to proven leadership,” emphasized the DPP’s track record in bringing stability, economic growth, and development projects to the country during its previous tenure. He stated that, with the current government facing significant challenges, the DPP is the only party capable of restoring stability, creating jobs, and driving the economy forward.

Accompanying Gangata were senior party officials, including Party Spokesperson Hon. Shadreck Namalomba, Regional Governor Hon. David Kambalame, Hon. Ben Phiri, Dr. Jean Mathanga, Hon. Nachuma, Hon. Chimwemwe Chipungu, and Hon. Norman Chisale. Their presence underscored the party’s unity and shared determination to reclaim power in the upcoming elections.

The rally also attracted notable political figures such as Hon. Yelemia Chihana, Hon. Stabuli, and Hon. Bruce Munthali. Their participation signified the growing influence of the DPP and its ability to build cross-regional alliances, as well as to galvanize experienced leadership to tackle Malawi’s current challenges.

In his speech, Gangata reinforced the DPP’s commitment to addressing the concerns of Malawians and delivering practical solutions. “The people of Lilongwe and the entire Central Region deserve leadership that works for them. The DPP is the only party that has proven it can lead this nation effectively,” Gangata declared, drawing applause and chants of DPP Boma! from the energized crowd.

Hon. Norman Chisale, addressing the youth, highlighted the importance of young people in the party’s plans. He called on young Malawians to rally behind the DPP, promising that the party would create job opportunities and prioritize youth development. “The DPP is the party of the future, and the youth will be at the center of our development agenda,” Chisale declared, sparking excitement among young attendees.

With energy and confidence high throughout the rally, the DPP leadership assured Lilongwe residents that the party is prepared to bring positive change and development to Malawi. The Mgona Ground rally is part of a larger DPP strategy to consolidate support in the Central Region and mobilize voters for the 2025 elections.

As the event concluded, optimism was palpable among the crowd, with many expressing confidence that the DPP would return to power and lead Malawi toward a more prosperous future. The party’s message of proven leadership, unity, and development has set the tone for its 2025 campaign, leaving supporters energized and hopeful.
