Dr Joyce Banda signs condolence book ahead of the Queen funeral on Monday

Malawi former President Dr Joyce Banda, on Sunday signed the condolences book ahead of the queen’s funeral which is scheduled to take place on Monday. She is in the UK on behalf of President Chakwera.

Updating the nation through her social media page Dr Joyce Banda said she signed the condolence book on behalf of Malawi at Lancaster Hall

“Today, 18th September, 2022 I led the Malawi delegation made up of The Minister of Information and Digitalization Hon Gospel Kadzako, The Malawi High Commisioner to the United Kingdom, Dr Thomas & Mrs Bisika to pay last respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as she lies in State. I also signed the condolence book on behalf of Malawi at Lancaster Hall. Gave a brief condolence message on behalf of the President and government of Malawi. Later attended dinner at the Buckingham palace.”

Nearly 500 dignitaries from around the world have descended to London to pay their last respects to Queen Elizabeth at a state funeral at Westminster Abbey on Monday.

They will join members of the Royal family, UK prime ministers past and present, and key figures from public life in one of the largest diplomatic events of the century.  

“This is the biggest international event we have hosted in decades,” The UK authorities have said.

Other world leaders that have arrived in UK include USA President Joe Biden, France President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau among others
