Edith Kachale Banda’s recent efforts in Zomba-Malosa Constituency showcase her dedication to community development and supporting those in need. As the Managing Director of the Joyce Banda Foundation International and Shadow Member of Parliament, Kachale Banda has been working tirelessly to provide aid to victims of Cyclone Freddy and the ongoing hunger crisis in Malawi.
One of the most notable initiatives is the distribution of houses to those affected by Cyclone Freddy. Kachale Banda oversaw the handover of houses to one boy and two women, providing them with safe and secure shelter. Additionally, the foundation has built 51 houses in the districts of Zomba, Mangochi, and Mulanje, demonstrating its commitment to rebuilding and recovery efforts.
The foundation’s work goes beyond just providing shelter. Kachale Banda also distributed maize to 225 households in the constituency, helping to alleviate food shortages and support those struggling with hunger. The impact of these efforts is evident in the stories of individuals like Timveka Mikithayo, a Form 3 student who received a new house after living in a dilapidated one.
Kachale Banda’s commitment to community development is further highlighted by the opening of the Tiwi Footbridge in the constituency. This new infrastructure will improve access to essential services and facilities, making a tangible difference in the lives of local residents.
As a respected leader and advocate for community development, Kachale Banda has earned the endorsement of traditional leaders in Zomba, who have thrown their weight behind her parliamentary candidacy. Her dedication to supporting those in need and driving community development makes her a compelling figure in Malawian politics.
