A group of concerned citizens, under the banner ‘Concerned Citizens of Malawi’, has petitioned President Lazarus Chakwera to take decisive action against Minister of Education, Madalitso Kambauwa, and Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) Chief Executive Officer(CEO), Dorothy Nampota, for their alleged mismanagement and negligence in the administration of examination processes.
In a strongly worded letter to Colleen Zamba, the Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Edward Kambanje and Oliver Nakoma, on behalf of the group, have expressed their outrage and disappointment over the recent omission of the map reading paper from the Geography Paper exam in the ongoing Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) exams.
The two have described this significant error as a “concerning lack of seriousness and attention to duties” within MANEB and called for the immediate dismissal of the two officials for their alleged negligence.
They have also demanded a thorough explanation from the MANEB boss regarding the circumstances surrounding the blunder and the identification of those responsible.
Furthermore, they have called for the swift dismissal of the Quality Control Officer involved in the oversight, emphasizing that such negligence cannot be tolerated.
The Concerned Citizens have expressed their confidence that President Chakwera will address this issue with the urgency it deserves and take decisive action to restore public trust in MANEB’s operations.
