EKhaya foods gives NPL sports editor Garry Chirwa K2.16 million to cover Queens’ Netball World Cup matches in South Africa

By Chisomo Phiri

Ekhaya Farm Foods, a company owned by Malawi’s business magnet Thom Mpinganjira has given Nation Publications Limited (NPL) sports editor, Garry Chirwa K2. 16 million for him to fly off to Cape Town, South Africa and cover the Malawi Queens’ campaign at the Netball World Cup.

Ekhaya Group of Companies’ executive assistant Tabitha Mwando said the amount covers Chirwa’s return air-ticket, accommodation and food while in South Africa.

She said they saw it fit to fund the trip as a way of helping to improve the Queens’ visibility.

“As you know, Queens always make Malawi proud and they are loved by the public who need to be frequently updated about the team’s performance at the global show-piece which is taking place on African soil for the first time,” she said.

“Chirwa is an acclaimed journalist who we feel will help to give the public a 360-degree angle as regards the Queens performance at the world cup,” she added.

On his part, Chirwa thanked Ekhaya for trusting him to cover the Queens’ world cup live through NPL’s online and print platforms.
