Renowned Political scientist Dr Ben Dzolowere has condemned Concerned Citizens of Malawi-People Power Movement (CCM-PPM) for demanding transparency from Government institutions and yet they are not transparency themselves.
Dzolowere said the Concerned Citizens of Malawi-People Power Movement (CCM-PPM) have no moral grounds to demand such accountability and yet they have submitted a huge budget of K10Million for them to be be able to submit the document to the Malawi Parliament.
“I hear they have written a document in which they are expressing deep concern over the numerous failed development projects highlighted in the recent State of the Nation Address (SONA) I hear the group argues that these failures reveal widespread corruption, financial mismanagement, and incompetence within the government,” he says.

Dr Dzolowere says , if these are honest people, where were they when the former Governor Dalitso Kabambe gave himself huge some of money as salary and benefits.
“What baffles me is that in their statement which Edward Kambanje and Oliver NaNakoma have published they are criticising Reserve Bank Governor Dr. Mafuta Mwale with no specific reasons at all,”
Kambanje, Nakoma exposed
The worrying part of it all is that the two leaders have submitted a budget of K10Million for their allowances and yet the same organisations are asking for transparency and accountability.
The group alleges that during his tenure as Secretary to the Treasury, Dr. Mwale played a significant role in approving projects that were later found to be fraudulent, “which projects are these guys referring to,” he querries.
There is this other point which they are raising that as a key figure responsible for overseeing public fund disbursement, he failed to prevent financial irregularities.
“Which financial irregularities are they talking about because does a Secretary to the Treasury implement projects? does these people knows the role of the ST,” he said.
