Exposing Peter Mutharika lies at the NGC meeting

By Linda Kwanjana

A few days ago President Peter Mutharika held Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) National Governing Council (NGC) meeting at Mkopola Lodge in Mangochi.

In his speech, Mutharika rebuked one of his NGC members, Ken Msonda for being critical of his leadership.

Again Mutharika invited Msonda to leave the party if he continues criticising the party’s leadership. In the first place , any leadership should be ready to face criticism at all costs. If Mutharika cannot withstand criticism let him resign from the party Presidency and allow the one who can withstand the hit takeover.

Mutharika

Mutharika being the lawyer himself would have been aware of some section of the law which allows freedom of conscience.

Again , Mutharika invited Msonda to leave the party. Msonda never applied to Mutharika to join the party. In Malawi no one applies to join the party and Mutharika does not own DPP and will never own the party. DPP is a political party as such being a party it is run by the NGC.

Mutharika should be able to know the difference between a family and a political property in this case he should stop intimidating members.

Mutharika lied again that many people have approached him to stand as presidential candidate in 2025 as well as to stand and continue running the party as its president. The simple question is which people have been going to Mutharika on this issue.

No one can persuade Mutharika to stand because of his age. Mutharika deserves to rest and enjoy his retirement.
