The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) recently hosted a two-day Club Licensing seminar at Mpira Village in Chiwembe, Blantyre, for the newly established National Division League (NDL).

The seminar brought together representatives from all 12 teams set to participate in the inaugural 2025/26 NDL season.

FAM Technical Director, Benjamin Kumwenda, who is also a member of the FAM Club Licensing First Instance Body, led the training.

The seminar focused on five key criteria aimed at professionalizing the second-tier league. These criteria include sporting, infrastructure, finance, administration, and personnel.

The training aimed to equip teams with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop young players, manage finances, and maintain proper administration and infrastructure.

Kumwenda emphasized the importance of teams playing in suitable stadiums and having qualified administrative personnel.

Participants, including Mathews Mbetewa, General Secretary of Namitete Zitha FC, praised the FAM for organizing the seminar.

Mbetewa expressed his team’s readiness to take football to new heights with the support of the FAM.

The seminar marked an important step in the development of the NDL and the growth of football in Malawi.
