The country’s football mother body, Football Association of Malawi(FAM) is on a mission of inspecting the conditions of Stadia in the country following increasing claims of poor standards of the facilities.
FAM banned two Stadia, Mzuzu and Civo, from hosting high profile matches due to poor standards and this week, it is inspecting the legendary Kamuzu Stadium.
The facility was banned from hosting international matches by Confederations of African Football(CAF) last year and FAM barred it from hosting top games in the league this season despite Super League of Malawi (SULOM) defying the rules as it hosted the much anticipated Blantyre derby.
Meanwhile, fingers are crossed for the people in Blantyre as they wait for the outcomes of the inspection report to be released by the body in the coming two weeks.
The facility has dangers to cause accidents as its stands are having cracks and are closed in some parts of them.
Last week, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers head coach, Mark Harrison, complained about the status of the Karonga Stadium on which he said its equally bad as the Mzuzu Stadium.
The country has stadia such as Karonga, Kasungu, Chitowe, Silver, Nankhaka, Dedza, Bingu National, Balaka, Mangochi, Mulanje, Mpira and Kamuzu as those that host top flight games in the country.
