FAM launches second phase of FIFA women’s football campaign in Karonga

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) on Sunday launched the second phase of the FIFA Women’s Football Campaign in Karonga District, aimed at popularizing women’s football among young girls and encouraging their participation in the sport.

The FIFA-funded project, which has already reached Blantyre, Lilongwe, and Mzuzu in its first phase, has expanded to Zomba, Kasungu, and Karonga districts in its second phase.

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) on Sunday launched the second phase of the FIFA Women's Football Campaign in Karonga District, aimed at popularizing women's football among young girls and encouraging their participation in the sport.

As part of the campaign, women’s football ambassadors Maggie Chombo, Linda Kasenda, and Asimenye Simwaka delivered motivational talks to inspire and empower the young girls.

Six teams participated in the Karonga launch,and these are Karonga United Women, Baka City Women, Ndagha Academy, KK Sisters, Baka United, and Zinde Academy.

The football governing body says it will  introduce U14 and U16 Girls’ Leagues in Zomba, Karonga, and Kasungu later this year, further solidifying its commitment to developing women’s football in Malawi.
