FAM President attributes Scorchers win to Chakwera political will

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Walter Nyamilandu Manda has hailed Malawi leader President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera for his zeal and passion in sports development.

Manda said President Chakwera has always inspires football fraternity to be perseverance and hardworking despite the struggles that come in other sectors of life.

Speaking at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe where the Malawi Leader hosted the Scorchers for their historical achievement made at this year’s COSAFA tournament, Manda acknowledged the President for the support that he always renders to the Scorchers sighting the recent example when the President hosted Tabitha Chawinga and her family after her successful journey in Europe.

“Your Excellence, in these young girls, we see qualities that you want in the citizens of the country. In these girls, we see a flaming desire for success. We see courage, hope and resilience and the rewards these qualities can ultimately bring.

“These girls are a living expression of the principle that setting goals and fighting to accomplish them brings results, no matter how long it takes and as long as you remain focused,” Nyamilandu said.

He also assured the President that Football is ready to play it’s part in amplifying the message on resilience and mindset change, and that football is ready to play its part in shaping the future and aspirations of this country.

“Like their male counterparts, women football has the power of the masses. It is strategically placed to drive the development agenda of your administration. With support, not even the sky is the limit as to what it can achieve,” he said.

The FAM boss also assured the Malawi leader of the football governing body’s commitment in achieving the vision of the country’s football governing body of raising the bar in the game and contributing to the Malawi 2063 goals.
