One of the country’s leading financial institutions FDH Bank has announced an increase in sponsorship for FDH Bank Cup from K90 million to K120 million for the 2023 season.
Announcing the news at Mpira Village in Chiwembe,Blantyre on Friday, FDH Bank Senior Marketing Manager Ronald Chimchere said champions will now be carting home K30 million from K25 million.
He said the increase will also see regional champions getting K700,000 from K500,000, with individual player awards now getting K300,000 from K200,000.
Reacting to the development, general secretary for the Football Association of Malawi Alfred Gunda commended the bank for considering to review the package at the time the economy is struggling.
“We thank FDH Bank for considering this sponsorship increase,” he said
According to the FA, the competition’s calendar for this year is expected to run from May to 16 September.
FDH, who are official sponsors of Malawi National Football Team, have been sponsoring FDH Bank Cup for the past two seasons.
