By Shaffie A Mtambo

Renowned Malawian musician Giboh Pearson is using his platform to make a positive impact on the lives of youths in Phalombe district. Through a combination of sports and music, Pearson aims to provide young people with alternatives to immoral behaviors that can have devastating consequences.

Speaking at the conclusion of the K200,000 Top Four Pompopompo Football and Netball Bonanza in Phalombe district, Pearson emphasized his commitment to supporting youths in the area.

“My intention is to see youths in the districts refraining from bad behavior that can cost their lives.Organizing such activities doesn’t mean I am politically motivated; it is the love that exists between myself and citizens of Phalombe,” he explained.

The event, which brought together teams from the district, was a resounding success. Mpatsa Sporting Club emerged victorious in the men’s football category, defeating Phalombe Open Space 4-2. In the netball competition, Phalombe Queens outclassed Nalingula Sisters 24-20.

The bonanza was further enhanced by music performances from veteran artist Phungu Joseph Nkasa, among others. Pearson’s initiative serves as a shining example of how sports and music can be leveraged to empower and inspire young people, providing them with positive outlets and alternatives to destructive behaviors.
