The Global Fund committee under the Ministry of Health is facing criticism for its failure to pay allowances to 210 health workers from 7 districts in the northern region who participated in the Advanced HIV Management training in June this year in Mzuzu.
Two of the affected health workers Vinjeru Mhango and Agnes Chilombo, allege that the fund has withheld over K50 million meant to pay each health worker K240,000 in allowances.
They expressed frustration, stating that they had to use their own funds for accommodation and food during the training.
Meanwhile, a member of the Global Fund committee at the Ministry of Health who coordinated the training,Stanley Ng’oma, declined to comment on the matter.
