President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has advised a new cohort of commissioners for the Malawi Human Rights Commission to uphold, without any sort of relent, the fundamental values in defence of civil rights and liberties.
Chakwera made the remarks on Thursday 5th October when he presided over the swearing in of the newly appointed MHRC commissioners at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.
Chakwera urged the commissioners to work hard and not to loose track after meeting challenges, saying challenges are always there in any task given.
“We expect of them to uphold, without any sort of relent, the fundamental values in defence of civil rights and liberties,” wrote the Malawi leader on his Facebook page.
The 8th cohort of Commissioners of the Malawi Human Rights Commission has: Boniface Massah, Dr Sunduzwayo Madise, Scader Louis, Chikondi Chijozi, Viwemi Chavula,Teresa Chirwa – Ndanga, Andrew Kavala, Grace Tikambenji Malera and Rosemary Kanyuka.
They will serve for 3 years and their appointment is effective 26th August 2023.
