Goliati Pledges Support to Cyclone Freddy Victims Amidst Football Bonanza

Mulanje South East constituency’s DPP shadow MP, Tiyamike Harold Goliati, has pledged to provide total support to the people of Mulanje South East Constituency including Senior Group Village Headman Njirambo who were affected by Cyclone Freddy in March 2023.

Goliati made this promise during the finals of the One Million Kwacha Tiyamike Goliati Football Bonanza, where he presented cash prizes to the winning teams, Matrauza Football Club and Namaja Sisters in both categories of boys and girls football, respectively.

“I am committed to supporting the people of Mulanje South East Constituency including Senior Group Village Headman Njirambo who were affected by Cyclone Freddy.

As their would-be representative, it is my duty to ensure that they receive the necessary assistance to rebuild their lives,” Goliati said.

Mathrauza Football Club emerged as champions after defeating Makwete Football Club 2-0, scoring a goal in each half while Namaja Sisters beat Bwin Sisters 2-1 in the girls football category to become the Champiins.

The match was attended by a mammoth crowd, including chiefs and DPP Party leadership from the Mulanje South East constituency.

Senior Group Village Headman Njirambo commended Goliati for keeping the youth in his area engaged through the football bonanza.

“We appreciate Goliati’s efforts in keeping our youth busy and entertained.

We assure him that we will always support him in every initiative he takes,” the chief said.

One of the players from the winning team, Matrauza Football Club, expressed his gratitude to Goliati for the prize money.

“We are thankful to Goliati for this generous prize.

It will go a long way in helping us to develop our football skills and support our families,” said the player.

Goliati’s pledge to support the Cyclone Freddy victims is a welcome move, as many families in the area are still struggling to recover from the devastating effects of the cyclone.

The football bonanza, which was attended by a very large crowd, is a testament to Goliati’s commitment to engaging with his constituents and providing them with opportunities for entertainment and development.

In addition to the prize money, Goliati also donated cash prizes to the runners-up, Makwete Football Club, as well as  the third and fourth-placed teams.

Thirty two football teams, sixteen boys football teams and sixteen girls ones, took part in the bonanza.
