Government assures Dowa East of food provision amidst dry spell

The Minister of Agriculture, Sam Kawale, has assured the people of Dowa East that the government will provide them with food following a dry spell that has hit the district.

Kawale made this announcement during a rally at Nalunga Trading Centre in the area of Senior Chief Chiwere on Sunday April 06,2025 .

Kawale emphasized that Parliament has allocated sufficient funds to ADMARC for the purchase of maize, ensuring that nobody dies of hunger in the country.

He also highlighted the importance of irrigation farming, citing the unpredictability of rain-fed agriculture.

Member of Parliament for Dowa East, Richard Chimwendo Banda, urged the people to continue supporting the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) for continued development.

He credited President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s leadership with bringing numerous development projects to the area over the past four years.

Chimwendo Banda also encouraged the people to vote for President Chakwera, who has distributed various developments across the country, including road infrastructure.

MCP Chairperson for the Centre, Patrick Zebron Chilondola, echoed this sentiment, urging the people to give President Chakwera another mandate during the September 16, 2025, polls.

The rally was attended by Cabinet Ministers, members of Parliament, chiefs, and MCP officials. With at least 347,130 people registered to vote in Dowa.
