Lilongwe-based gospel outfit The Great Angels choir on Friday cheered the ailing renowned musician Lucius Banda at his home Andiamo, in Balaka district.
Led by music director Ephraim Zonda, the group went to Lucius Banda’s home on it’s way to Blantyre where they are expected to perform at Robin’s Park on Sunday.
According to Zonda, the group felt it wise to cheer Lucius describing him as a Farther in music.
He said Lucius and his elder brother Paul who is also sick, are some of the artists who have shaped Malawian music and influenced many musicians in the country.
“You cannot talk of Malawian music without mentioning Paul and Lucius Banda. These two have contributed a lot towards the music industry in the country. We are here as Great Angels today because of the influence of these brothers; So we are in Balaka today to pray with Lucius and wish him and his brothers well,” said Zonda.
In his remarks Banda expressed gratitude saying he is very thankful for the support he has been receiving from well wishers.
” I am very grateful to ‘The Great Angels’ and to all Malawians for being their for me and my brothers in these difficult times. May the good Lord bless each and every one of them,” said Banda.
Lucius, his brothers Paul and Francis have been sick for some time now and they are all in need of medical help abroad.
