Jessy Kabwira, the spokesperson for the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), has come forward to address recent criticisms aimed at the party, asserting that claims of corruption are unfounded. Kabwira emphasized that the MCP is committed to transparency and development under President Lazarus Chakwera’s leadership. She firmly stated that the party’s focus is on driving progress in Malawi, dismissing allegations that the MCP is engaged in dishonest practices.
“Those who allege that the MCP is corrupt are simply misinformed. The party is focused on the development work that is being undertaken in this country,” Kabwira declared. She expressed confidence that if President Chakwera wins the upcoming elections, it will be a victory for the people, reflecting the positive changes that have taken place during his administration.
In her remarks, Kabwira specifically rebutted claims regarding the party’s awareness of corrupt practices, saying, “The MCP does not have any connection with Tipex,” referring to the correction fluid often associated with dishonesty in official documentation. This comment underscores her commitment to defending the integrity of the party amid accusations.
Kabwira also urged the citizens of Dowa district to take an active role in the electoral process. She called on them to ensure they are registered in preparation for the upcoming elections, emphasizing the importance of participation in shaping the future of Malawi. “As we approach the registration period, I urge everyone in Dowa to register and make their voices heard in the upcoming elections,” she stated.
Jessy Kwabwira’s defense of the MCP highlights the party’s commitment to transparency and development as it prepares for the elections. Her assertions against allegations of corruption reinforce the party’s narrative of integrity and dedication to the progress of Malawi. As the electoral process unfolds, her call for active participation from the citizens of Dowa reflects the MCP’s desire to engage the electorate and secure a mandate based on the achievements of the Chakwera administration. The upcoming elections will be a critical moment for the MCP, and Kwabwira’s proactive stance aims to bolster public confidence in the party’s vision for the country’s future.
