Journalist Nomsa Mkandawire Taulo laid to rest

The body of renowned journalist Nomsa Mkandawire Taulo has been laid to rest today at HHI cemetery in Blantyre.

Earlier, a mammoth cloud gathered at Nomsa’s parents’ residence in Manja township, where the funeral ceremony took place, to bid farewell to one of Malawi’s most dedicated female journalists.

Mkandawire died on Saturday, May 6, 2023, after a short illness a few hours after arriving in the country from Juba, South Sudan.

At the time of her death, Mkandawire was working with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in South Sudan as a Communication and Innovations Analyst

Mkandawire worked with MIJ FM Radio and then Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) as a reporter, editor and producer between 2004 and 2012 before joining Save the Children International as Campaigns and Communications Specialist.

Later, Nomsa joined United Nations in Malawi as a Communications Officer for Spotlight Initiative. She joined UNDP South Sudan in 2022.
