Death has been announced by journalist MacFarlane Mbewe. Shot to the limelight with his “I love your earrings’ comment made to former Malawi Electoral Commission Chairlady Jane Ansah.
Reports indicate that Mbewe died at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHES) while making a presentation. The real cause of the death is not yet known but others are suggesting that he suffered a cardiac arrest. He was working for Malawi Liverpool Welcome Trust.
Before that, he worked with a number of media houses including Capita Radio Malawi and Matindi Radio (now Times Radio). Mbewe became very popular during the 2019 tripartite elections when he he told the former Malawi Electoral Commission Chairperson Jane Ansah that she wore beautiful earrings during a press conference.
He will be remembered as one of the most brilliant business journalist and Master of Ceremonies
