As a way of rewarding its tobacco growers who, year in year out, deliver contracted volumes of tobacco, Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Leaf Malawi has launched a promotion called ‘Mlimi Wozitsata Ayiphule’.

Speaking on Friday during the promotion launch in Lilongwe, JTI Leaf Malawi Corporate Affairs Director, Limbani Kakhome, said the promotion will run from the day tobacco markets open until its closure in October.

Kakhombe said all JTI-contracted growers are eligible and stand a chance to win various prizes, including diesel-powered maize mill and huller, three motorcycles fully registered, bags of NPK and Urea fertilizer among others.

He said the promotion has been introduced as an incentive for growers who deliver their contracted volumes on time and within expected quality agreements.

Said Kakhombe :”This year, we have gone bigger, better and bolder by introducing grand national prizes to be wonby our contracted growers who fulfil set criteria.”

He however, bemoaned heightened levels of illegal vending of the leaf this year.

JTI Malawi is a proudly international tobacco company, leading the industry with its commitment to achieving and maintaining the highest standards of ethical behaviour.

The Company both makes and sells some of the world’s most well-known brands, some of which include, Winston, Camel and Mevius.
