Former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor and the United Transformation Movement (UTM) presidential hopeful, Dalitso Kabambe, has challenged the youth to be innovative in resuscitating the country’s economy through technology.
Speaking as a guest of honor at a 4-day 2024 Youth Rally for the CCAP Blantyre Synod in Chiradzulu on Saturday, Kabambe stressed the need for the country to embrace technology as a means of generating more revenue.
“As a country, we need to think twice and consider what Malawi will produce and export. The world has moved on from selling commodities and is now focusing on technology,” said Kabambe.
On his part, Vice Chairperson for the Synod’s Youth Association Committee, Stanley Maganga, said the meeting aims to enrich their spiritual lives and socioeconomic well-being, hence inviting Kabambe and several other influential people in society.
“These rallies are very important. We are not only looking at the spiritual aspect; we are inviting people like Dr. Dalitso Kabambe to talk to us about the economy and governance,” he said.
The biennial rally, themed “Youth Born with Christ Identity,” aims to equip and inspire youth to make a positive impact in their churches and communities.
