Karonga UTM Youth Mourns Dr. Saulos Chilima and Plane Crash Victims

In a heartfelt tribute, the Karonga UTM Youth Achievers gathered at Karonga Community Ground on Saturday night to honor the memory of late Dr. Saulos Chilima and the eight others who tragically lost their lives in a plane crash at Chikangawa in Mzimba.

The candlelight memorial ceremony was a somber occasion marked by speeches and reflections on the impact of Dr. Chilima’s leadership and the lives lost in the recent tragedy. Member of Parliament for Karonga North West, Felix Kayira, delivered an impassioned address, urging the youth to uphold Dr. Chilima’s vision for the advancement of Malawi. He emphasized the importance of unity and collective action in realizing the late Vice President’s aspirations for a better future.



Patricia Msiska, the District Governess for UTM in Karonga, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to fostering peace and harmony across the nation. She underscored the significance of solidarity among party members and the community at large during times of mourning and remembrance.

Activities during the memorial included a solidarity walk, where participants marched in unity to honor the departed souls. Songs filled the air, echoing sentiments of respect and admiration for Dr. Chilima and those who perished alongside him in the tragic accident.
