Mabulawo Jere Exposes Transport Safety Concerns on Facebook

By Burnett Munthali

Mabulawo Jere has raised alarm on social media regarding a tragic incident involving a mini-bus that carried 26 passengers. In a recent Facebook post, Jere detailed the vehicle’s journey through multiple checkpoints and traffic police stations before the tragedy occurred.

According to Jere, the mini-bus passed through numerous security and traffic checkpoints, including Jenda road block, Chenjewazi, Mphomwa, Dwangwa, and several others, without being stopped or inspected. This included checkpoints at Kasungu Admarc, Camel, Chinkhoma, and Santhe, culminating at Bua River. Despite navigating these multiple checkpoints, the vehicle managed to evade rigorous checks due to a K10,000 GR, which Jere implies may have facilitated their passage.

Jere’s post highlights serious concerns about the effectiveness and integrity of traffic enforcement and road safety measures. The incident underscores potential flaws in the system that allow vehicles to bypass critical checks, raising questions about accountability and oversight.

As the community grapples with the loss, Jere concludes with a heartfelt message: “May Their Souls Rest in Peace.” His post serves as both a memorial to the victims and a call for urgent reforms to improve road safety and law enforcement practices.
