First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera has hailed Luthando Holdings for donating two Yamaha YBR 125, EG Series motorcycles to Shaping Our Future Foundation (SOFF).
The motorcycles are valued at K19 million and they come with a two-year warranty as well as free servicing.
Appreciating the gesture through her Facebook page, Madam Chakwera said the motorcycles have come at the right time when her organization is working tirelessly in the rural areas where mobility is a notable challenge.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mr. Hendrix Laher, the Managing Director of Luthando Holdings, and his entire team for this thoughtful and timely contribution to my organization,” says the first lady.
At Shaping Our Future Foundation, says Madam Chakwera, the organization is deeply committed to empowering women and girls across Malawi, through education, economic empowerment and health related initiatives.
“Much of SOFF work is in the rural areas and depends heavily on the ability of our field officers. These motorcycles will significantly enhance the mobility of our team, allowing them to navigate challenging terrains to deliver much needed support, guidance and resources,” she added.
“As SOFF board chairperson, I am grateful of the partnerships we are building with different companies within the private sector. Luthando Holdings’ understanding of the importance of community support and corporate social responsibility is truly commendable. Together, we are making meaningful progress in shaping a brighter future for Malawi women and girls.”
