Minister of Information and Digitalisation, Moses Kunkuyu, on Friday, launched the Infrastructure Analytic Dashboard, a tool which will help Malawians and other interested parties to easily follow up on infrastructure development projects.

Speaking at the launch of the Dashboard in Lilongwe, Kunkuyu observed that the innovation is in line with President Dr.Lazarus Chakwera’s resolve for a transparent and accountable Government.

According to Kunkuyu, the Infrastructure Analytic Dashboard gives Malawians a unique opportunity to closely follow what their government is doing to uplift their lives in pursuit of the Malawi 2063 agenda.

Kunkuyu since urged all MDAs to upload information on the various infrastructure development projects under their domain on the dashboard.

The Infrastructure Analytic Dashboard is an extension of the Information Platform for Public Infrastructure (IPPI) where information on all public infrastructure projects is uploaded.

The Dashboard has been developed under the Construction Sector Transparency Initiative (CoST) Malawi Program, which among other things advocates for disclosure of information on infrastructure development.

The CoST program is a country-centred governance program with a speciality in infrastructure delivery and is hosted locally by the National Construction Industry Council (NCIC).

On his part, Engineer Gerald Khonje, Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of NCIC lauded the CoST Program for its tremendous contribution in opening up the construction industry in Malawi to transparency and accountability.

In his remarks, CoST Malawi Program Chairperson,Joe Ching’ani, commended President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, for availing himself as the CoST Malawi Champion in April 2021.

“As CoST Champion, the President has advocated for greater transparency and accountability in the implementation of public infrastructure both locally and abroad,” he said.

Currently, information of over 700 projects has been uploaded on the portal.
