Malawi receives Jet Fuel from Mozambique

Malawi government has received 40,000 litres of jet fuel to help in rescue operations of people affected by Cyclone Freddy.

Minister of Education, Madalitso Kambauwa Wilima received the donation on behalf of president Lazarus Chakwera from Mozambican Ambassador, Elias Zimba who represented president Filipe Nyusi



According to Zimba, the fuel is meant for the helicopters deployed for rescue and provision of relief assistance to cyclone Freddy survivors.

According to the Department of Disaster Management (DODMA), over 438 people have died, 918 are injured and 282 are still missing.

Over 345,183 people have been displaced and living in temporary shelters following the devastating cyclone.
