Malawi to host international mining investment forum

Minister of Mining Monica Chayang’anamuno has announced that Malawi will host its first international mining investment forum from April 23 to April 24, 2024 in Lilongwe.

The Minister made the announcement during a press briefing in Lilongwe on Friday.

She said the inaugural annual forum will showcase the country’s mining potential to attract more investments as government aims to realise the full potential of the mining sector.

Chang’anamuno said the event to be held under the theme ‘Transforming the Nation Through Sustainable Mineral Extraction’ will be part of the week that will promote the country’s priority sectors of Agriculture, Tourism and Mining dubbed the ATM economic strategy.

She said:”Through constructive discussions, informative showcases and networking opportunities, participants will explore strategies and solutions to unlock the enormous greenfield mineral potential that Malawi is endowed with.”

The forum is expected to attract over 300 participants from around the world.

Malawi is a blessed country that has a diverse  mineral resources such as Rare Earth Elements (REEs), graphite, Uranium,Gold and Gemstones among others.
