The COMESA Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB) Malawi Chapter is encouraging women entrepreneurs in the country to become key drivers of economic growth and job creation.

Speaking during a business training session in Blantyre on Wednesday, the organization’s Assistant Liaison Officer Yamikani Kutengule emphasized the importance of women-led businesses in poverty reduction.

“Our goal is to empower these women with the confidence and expertise needed to expand their businesses, generating income and creating wealth that benefits their communities,” she said.

The training session brought together experts from various sectors, including officials from the Ministry of Trade and the Malawi Revenue Authority(MRA), who shared insights on trading, taxation, and business growth strategies.

COMFWB Malawi chapter was launched in March 2022.

Its mission is to develop women entrepreneurship in Malawi through programmes that promote, encourage and serve the needs of women in business, working in collaboration with relevant partners.
