A heartwarming gesture of kindness has brought smiles to the faces of 14 needy learners at Chikupira Model Primary School in Zomba Rural, Malawi. A group of South African-based Malawians has donated school uniforms and slippers to these deserving students, aiming to alleviate some of the academic challenges they face.
According to Asante Manjolo, the group’s representative, this initiative is a testament to the community’s commitment to giving back and making a positive impact on the lives of young Malawians. Manjolo urged other well-wishers to follow suit, emphasizing the need for collective support to reach more school-going learners with essential school items.
The school’s Head Teacher, Micheus Kanyenga, expressed gratitude for the donation, stating that it will not only provide the learners with the necessary materials but also motivate and encourage them to excel academically.
One of the beneficiaries, Mayankho Matola, a standard 7 learner, was overwhelmed with joy and appreciation. “Our parents are not well-to-do, and they couldn’t have afforded to buy these items for us,” Matola said.
This selfless act by the South African-based Malawian community serves as a shining example of the power of diaspora giving and the impact it can have on local communities.
