A Malawian young man with strong links to Ireland has been found dead floating in a river in Germany . He has been named as George Thawe
According to reports 247Malawi has gathered ,George was found dead in the water according to German police.
So far Family set a GoFundMe has been set appealing for well-wishers to support the Thawe family. according to Henry Mkumbira Phiri, Chairman of the Malawian Diaspora in Ireland and a close family friend to the Thawe family, who has set up the page family is hoping to repatriate his body to Malawi to give the young man a proper send off, surrounded by family and loved ones.
On the Go Fund Page ,Mkumbira writes“Help us send young and innocent George to Malawi.”
“I am saddened to announce that we have lost our brother George Thawe in Germany who according to Germany police, was found dead floating on a river in Germany
“This news has devastated our family as we all knew George as a young child full of ambition, and very friendly.
“The family is in total disbelief and shock over the tragic death of the young George and imagining how helpless he was at the time of his horrific departure.
“Following this sudden departure of George, we have resorted as family that we repatriate his body to Malawi, in order to be accorded a proper send off by his family and loved ones.
“In light of the above, I appeal to well-wishers to help us with funds for George’s repatriation to Malawi.
“I thank you all in advance for your support and assistance.”
So far €1,880 has been raised of the €8,000 target.
