Malawians all over the country Including the diaspora have reacted to the sudden death of veteran politician Mr Tinocius Magombo , who was commonly known as Mr Nyusensi
Mr Magombo who became the internet hit during the 2019 election campaign, was famous for his videos that usually went viral where he was giving his honest analysis and opinions of various political issues. It was his trademark finishing line “The Combination of Nyusensi” that attracted him new admirers and made his a darling for political followers.
Early Saturday morning, social media was awash with news that the veteran politician is dead . It is reported that he has died from the Injuries he sustained after a motorbike accident.
Magombo was not a political novice. He described himself as a proper veteran. He rose within the ranks as a member of United Democratic Front(UDF) at the time when the party was ruling Malawi. Former President Bakili Muluzi is said to have been a great admirer of Mr Magombo’s hardwork,dedication to the party and his gifted oratory skills. He rose within the UDF ranks to the position of a District Governor.
Writing of Facebook, UK based political Scientist Allan Mandindi described Magombo as a loss to the nation “Sad to have lost Mr Magombo ,I really admired his ability to connect with people at the top of power and those in the village even without great education. Many knew him as Mr Nyusensi but to us he was family” wrote Mandindi.
One Christopher Munthali wrote on social media that “MHSRIP he made us laugh during Malawi’s trying times condolences to the family”
A statement from UDF party read ” With much sadness we learn of the death of the passing of Hon Magombo aka Mr Nyusensi, a former Regional governor of UDF. We share the greif of his sudden demise with the family and all the people that knew him.May his soul rest in peace”
Magombo initially grabbed attention when his video endorsing Saulos Chilima went Viral. Opportunists went as far as capitalizing on his fame by printing merchandize off his image. Nyusensi’s image was on Tshirts, mugs, cups, and even music artwork. While many thought he was a UTM member he later, disappointed UTM supporters he was spotted at a UDF rally.
