My question is, who will investigate, arrest, convict and report corruption suspects in Malawi? A spectra of hunger looms for some parts of Malawi. The level of government corruption in all corners of Malawi tells us one thing.
We are living in a nation where corruption is more rampant today than developing the country. Our state has grown so corrupt that all arms of government and departments are inseparable from corrupt practices. The executive in particular, followed by the judiciary, legislature, Malawi Defence Force and Police are all highly corrupt. My question is, who will investigate, arrest, convict and take these suspects to the court of law?
It is writing that we are failing to fight corruption. Our ethical values are not important anymore.
There is definitely something wrong with the way we are raising our nation right from family level, religion, school, locations, villages and areas, the books we read and what we watch, the music we listen to and what we say, the friends who we play with, communities around us and the way we are running government.
The level of corruption in all corners of Malawi tells us one thing. Everything that we are doing is leading to nothing which means the foundations of our humanity are all broken.
We don’t believe in anything else but self destruction of our society and self image. We are actually worshipping the devil right in the church and other holy places.
I am not puzzled by pastors. They are the worst leaders so far because they are used to leading the silent congregation which doesn’t criticize them often times. Malawians will continue to struggle due to poor leadership. Visionary leaders transform nations as they are there to take the right direction and show people the direction to take.
The Hi 5 Malawi Congress Party (MCP) slogan is just an empty promise because the one who used it on the political podium doesn’t understand it by any standards. He simply chose to use the ideologies like a kindergarten child who is learning to memorise days of the week and thinks that is being intelligent to stand in front of a nursery classroom and start teaching. Malawi is not interested in empty speeches but promises must be delivered. The Hi-5 must be delivered and the things to do so is long overdue.
The recent drama episode when the corruption case involving Vice President, Dr. Saulos Chilima was discontinued in the Sattar’s corruption scandal and Martha Chizuma’s selective justice is a pure sign of a Hi-5 which is failing and won’t be delivered. She only targets to arrest suspects from other political parties leaving Malawi Congress Party corruption suspects free. Slowly the Sattar case is becoming history. A waste of time and resources for nothing. Protecting corrupt individuals is itself the biggest corruption ever.
Take time to know your leaders before you vote for them just as you need to take your time before you marry your wife. Unfortunately, Malawi is always in a hurry when doing things. Very unfortunate indeed.
Corruption has reached its highest levels in recent years more than ever before and Tonse Alliance Government is a huge disappointment. Tonse is in the forefront of corruption and stealing and cannot even provide passports for its citizens. The worst government can do is to provide fake passports. What a raw deal !
Malawians have become poorer under Tonse than ever before instead of becoming financially better. The hope most people had in the Chakwera government is completely thrown to the dogs and lost.
The people of this nation are speechless spectators as they struggle to even eat nsima each day. I was perturbed one day when a man bought nsima without any relish at a restaurant. He started eating his nsima with salt solution as an alternative for relish. That’s how bad the situation is on the ground.
I felt sad when I heard from a neighbour who opened up and said to us that life has become very ugly nowadays for their family than ever before. They now miss lunch everyday and manage to eat once and that’s supper only.
The majority of Malawians with low income have become very poor within four years of Tonse leadership. Poverty is real in Malawi and being created each day because of very poor economic policies.
Millions of jobs have been badly affected as the people’s buying power keeps going down. It is rumoured that the Malawi kwacha has fallen or might fall by another 30% yet the government has refuted these as false claims but in the contrary, Malawi Revenue Authority recently increased tax. This sent local business individuals mad on Friday 24 May 2024 as they dressed up in all black in protest of the tax increase. You can imagine how the government is handling issues, confused and not sure if themselves.
Many families cannot afford to have breakfast every morning yet they were able to do so just some four years ago. Pa ground sipali bwino for sure and poverty is becoming real. Malawians must vote wisely come 2025 otherwise they must get ready to perish under Tonse Alliance Government!
